rules and regulations
In reality, the rules aren't too terribly wrong. Just please read them carefully, and we the admins will know if you have failed to do so. Seriously. Don't be lazy, just read them.
the basics
01. This site needs to be an active site. We know that you can't get on every day, but if you can't get on at least twice a week, then this site is not for you. Let an admin know if you're going to be gone for over one week or post an away thread.
02. You can only have fourteen (14) characters, but there are some rules. For every two female characters, you must have one male and vice versa. No one will care if you're absolutely horrid at male role playing. This site is all about getting better at this, being a better writer. So please, make a boy and enhance your inner male.
03. If you take a wanted ad, please keep that character active. We don't want a bunch of members getting angry because one of their wanted ads was a dud. Remember, you've made a commitment to another person. We know that not everyone can get on the computer every day, but if you can at least log in all of your characters at least twice a week, that would be lovely.
04. When writing your application for your second or third character, please re-post your role play example every time. Do not put "see so and so." It gets confusing and annoying to the administrators. We also ask you to do this because it keeps the applications looking neat and tidy. Don't forget to post your claims in the code brackets. It'll be ignored otherwise.
05. Respect. This is a big rule here at NPB. We ask that all members and staff members respect each other, even the guests that visit here. If there is disrespect we will PM you, or ban you if necessary.
06. NO SPAMMING! Do not join a thread just to say "come and join my thread." Also, there is a board for advertising so please do not post an advertisement in the C-Box or PM the members about your new site.
07. No bugging other members to post when they haven't for a while. If you see that the member you've been threading with has not posted within seven days of your last post, PM one of the admins stating so and we will get in touch with this person and ask them to come and post. But please keep in mind, that we do have lives outside of the site and that people may have a certain order in which they post.
08. When registering your name, you may register any way you please. When you're registered, please change your name to your characters first, middle and last name all in upper case. This is the only exception to the spelling and grammar rule. i.e. FIRST MIDDLE LASTin character
01. NO GOD-MODING, please and thank you and no mary-sues either. No one is perfect, and certainly not in the world of roleplaying. Don't know what these are? PM an admin or Google it. This is a general rule that you will see on most of the RPG forums.
02. This site rating is PG-13. Cursing is allowed, but not excessively. If you are to go into detail with a sex scene or a birth scene, please use the fade to black scene, or continue the thread else where. Also, if you wish to kill off your character, get one of them pregnant or married, please PM one of the admins before you go and thread these ideas. We don't want a bunch of pregnant teenagers running around now do we?
03. We have a 200+ word count here. We simply ask that there are no one-liners. Please make sure that you have at least two detailed paragraphs when threading with someone. If the person you are threading with has posted one thousand words, we ask that you come close to matching the word count. This just makes things interesting and helps you become a better writer. If you get stumped, get in contact with the person you're threading with to let them know your post might take a while.
04. One character per account. If you accidentally post as the wrong account then edit saying (sorry wrong account) or something and make sure that whatever character that is supposed to be talking name is used.
05. No chat speak. The only exception to this is in Cell Phones, Emails, and IMs. It's hard to understand and is not very appealing. This is not allowed in the in character threads nor the out of character threads.
06. Please use proper spelling and grammar. Most browsers are equipped with automatic spell check, and there is a spell check button when you post. We expect you to at least try. Please capitalize the first letter of the first word in your sentence and all names. We expect you are above 6th grade and know spelling and grammar.
07. Posts should always be in third person and past tense. Except when your character is speaking.
08. If a character isn't claimed (such as...Livvy Collins) then it is allowed for you to say 'Livvy approached and greeted so-and-so.' That isn't considered God-moding. As long as you don't make a habit of doing that in every post, it's alright.
09. After you have created your character, please make sure you have at least one in-character post on the board before creating any new characters. This rule goes for everyone, even the admin team. Thank you.graphics
01. You must have both a signature and an avatar. Most people like to have a general idea of who they are talking to looks like. You can take as long as you need to get a signature and avatar. We know how hard it is to get good signatures, but avatars should be pretty easy. Get an avatar ASAP. If you really can't find a signature, there are people here who will make one for you.
02. No huge signatures. You may have one big one that is no bigger than 500x400, two images that are around 200x300, or up to five icons. Text is okay in your signatures but don't put to much.
03. Avatars should not be bigger than 200 px width by 350 px height.
04. Absolutely no nudity.
05. This is a real life forum, which means only real life face claims. We will not accept anime or cartoon face claims. Also, ensure that your claim is relatively well known and not yourself or a friend. Models, actors, singers, internet models are all welcome here.chatter box
01. Don't spam the c-box. Spam is small, pointless, annoying messages. Conversations are welcome. That's what it's for. But absolutely no SPAM.
02. Also, no advertising. It's okay to have your site linked to your name, but don't draw attention to it. And no flat-out advertising, like saying "Hey people come to my site!" or anything related to that.
